OBiBa Software
Staff and researchers working for a biobank typically perform various functions. OBiBa software was designed as a number of functional modules corresponding to a biobank's main functions as shown in the figure below. The appropriate functional modules can be deployed individually or as an integrated application.
OBiBa software consists of functional modules corresponding to typical biobank activities
Baseline Interviews with Onyx
Onyx is a comprehensive software application used to manage participant interviews and to collect data in biobank assessment centres. Onyx can be branded with your own colors and logos. For more information, see Onyx.
Data Repository with Opal
The Opal application integrates biobank data from different sources into a secure central data repository. It provides interfaces for managing and querying a data element dictionary and for generating administrative and scientific reports, and supports many other activities required to analyze the data collected from subjects. For more information, see Opal.
Data Dissemination with Mica
Mica is a Content Management Software (CMS) application used to create web portals for epidemiological study consortia. For more information, see Mica.
High-throughput Genotyping with GenoByte
GenoByte is a Java application programming interface (API) for storing and querying data resulting from high-throughput genotyping experiments involving many subjects. For more information, see GenoByte.
Participant Management with Ark
The Participant Management application provides participant enrollment and consent management functionality for biobanks. It is also planned to support assessment scheduling functions. This application is being developed as part of a parallel open source development project in Western Australia, The Ark. For more information, see The Ark.
