Onyx on the Road in British Columbia

Onyx, OBiBa's baseline interview management software, has started travelling around the Canadian province of British Columbia to collect data for the BC Generations Project. This new longitudinal study is part of the Canadian Partnership for Tomorrow (CPT) which aims to collect data from 300,000 participants in order to better understand the gene-environment interactions that contribute to the development of cancer and other chronic diseases.

British Columbians are known for their pioneering spirit, so it was only partly surprising, when the BC Generations Project announced their intention to install their equipment (including Onyx) in a mobile assessment unit and travel around the province to reach participants in outlying communities.

The mobile assessment unit's first road trip (November 23-26, 2009) was to Abbotsford, a city of 137,000 people, located in the Fraser Valley about 75 km from Vancouver, BC's largest city.
